Mack Trucks has officially launched the all-new Mack Anthem®, which would be a redesigned truck specifically built to facilitate regional-haul applications.
According to certain reports, the stated truck arrives on the scene bearing an ability to deliver enhanced maneuverability, improved fuel efficiency, and industry-leading driver comfort.
Talk about the whole value proposition on a slightly deeper level, we begin from potential for enhanced maneuverability, something achieved using a shorter bumper-to-back-of-cab (BBC) length of 113.5 inches, as compared to the Pioneer’s 125.5 inches. This 12-inch difference makes the Anthem ideal for navigating tight spaces and urban environments.
More on that would reveal how the redesigned hood arrives bearing an ability to dramatically improve forward visibility, and therefore, help drivers see approximately 12 feet closer to the front bumper compared with previous designs.
Such a mechanism also goes the distance to significantly cut down on the risk of front-corner collisions.
“The transportation industry is evolving rapidly with fleet managers facing rising operational costs, complex logistics demands and ongoing driver recruitment challenges,” said Stephen Roy, global president of Mack Trucks. “The all-new Anthem responds to these challenges by delivering practical innovations that move the industry forward. Building on Mack’s legacy of innovation, the Anthem incorporates many of the same cutting-edge technologies and design principles that we’ve developed for our new Pioneer long-haul model,.”
Next up, we have the benefit of fuel efficiency coming into play. This translates to how the new Anthem delivers up to 10% improvement in fuel efficiency. From a financial standpoint, the stated upgrade can reach upto approximately $5,000 in annual fuel savings per truck.
“If you want maximum fuel efficiency, the Pioneer is the answer. If you want maximum maneuverability, the Anthem is the answer,” said Fernando Couceiro, vice president of highway trucks at Mack Trucks. “While both trucks deliver exceptional performance, the Pioneer maximizes fuel efficiency while the Anthem excels in maneuverability, allowing customers to choose the right tool for their specific application.”
Another detail worth a mention is rooted in the availability of an industry-leading comforting and design. We get to say so because of the way Anthem is offered in day cab, 44-inch sleeper and 64-inch sleeper configurations. Furthermore, it features a premium work environment geared towards reducing fatigue and improving satisfaction.
As for the cab interior, it is completely redesigned to offer exceptional comfort with a cab that’s nine inches wider than the previous model. Beyond that, we have wide-base seats present alongside optional ventilation, heating, and massage functions, whereas on the other hand, there are stand-up sleeper options available to provide enough headroom for drivers to stand upright.
The model also boasts premium quality mattresses and blackout curtains that, on their part, enable improved rest.
Among other things, it must be acknowledged that Mack’s latest brainchild enjoys advanced safety features, including an optional digital mirror system which eliminates traditional blind spots, as well as offers a standard front airbag and an Integrated Curtain Airbag (ICA) system.
Staying on the ICA system, it is mounted in the overhead compartment above the driver’s left shoulder, while simultaneously boasting an ability to deploy in rollover events and protect the driver from impact with side glass.
The model even has an assortment of integrated driver assistance systems that have already demonstrated a 43% reduction in near-miss incidents during controlled testing.
Rounding up highlights would be Anthem’s bid to leverage Mack Connect, the company’s most advanced telematics platform, which is designed to bestow upon fleet managers unprecedented visibility into operations.
On top of it, there is integration with Mack’s GuardDog Connect to automatically transmit service data to dealers, conceiving a 37% reduction in overall downtime compared with previous-generation trucks.
“The all-new Anthem represents a significant step forward for Mack and for the regional-haul segment,” said Jonathan Randall, president of Mack Trucks North America. “It carries the same name as its predecessor because it embodies the same values and attributes with measurable improvements but is substantially better in all aspects. The all-new Anthem delivers improvements in every area that matters to customers’ businesses: fuel efficiency, maneuverability, driver comfort, safety, connectivity.”
