Scaling the Scope of Sustainable Transport

Rad Power Bikes™ has officially announced the launch of three all-purpose cargo e-bikes that represent the next generation for its fan-favorite RadRunner lineup.

Featuring new variants in the form of all-new RadRunner, RadRunner Plus, and RadRunner Max, these e-bikes arrive bearing the means to meet a range of lifestyles and transportation needs, as they will provide riders with an effective mix of safety, versatility, and accessibility.

Talk about the given value proposition on a slightly deeper level, we begin from how each of the new e-bike will feature Rad’s Safe Shield™ batteries that are understood to be more durable and powerful, all while featuring thermal-resistant technology for an extra layer of safety. More on the same would reveal how these e-bikes are built using high-grade lithium-ion cells and certified to UL 2271.

Not just that, the stated Safe Shield batteries also exceed industry standards on the back of a unique heat-absorbing resin which protects them against corrosion and overheating.

Next up, there is the potential to shoulder increased payload. Hence, no matter whether you want to haul groceries, gear, or a passenger, the new RadRunners handle it all in a rather seamless fashion, This particular detail, like you can guess, makes them perfect for everyday tasks like school drop-offs, shopping runs, or weekend adventures.

Another detail worth a mention is rooted in the RadRunners’ Ingress Protection Rating 6 (IPX6), which translates to how every new e-bike in question here can withstand high-pressure water. Complementing that would be the availability of all-terrain tires that are Rad-designed to tackle any surface, including pavement, gravel, or dirt trails.

Then, we have hydraulic disc brakes coming into play that enable you to enjoy smoother, faster stops for a safer and more responsive ride.

Hold on, we still have a couple of bits left to unpack, considering we haven’t yet touched upon RadRunners’ promise to provide passcode protection, something which can keep your e-bike secure with specialized features that prevent theft and give you peace of mind. We also haven’t touched upon the prospect of availing service reminders to stay on top of tune-ups with personalized service reminders.

“I’ve been energized by the opportunity to build on Rad’s strong foundation and connect even more people to the power of e-bikes. The new RadRunner lineup is all about giving riders more versatility, more comfort, and more confidence,” said Kathi Lentzsch, CEO of Rad Power Bikes. “Just like these new models offer options to match different riding needs, we’re continuing to provide riders with flexible ways to find the right ebike for them, whether that’s online, in one of our RadRetail stores, or through our growing network of retail partners across the country.”

Having referred to their collective capabilities, we can take a more specific view of each model.

Starting from the original RadRunner, it would be a single-speed e-bike, designed to preserve the simple, easy-to-use form factor that riders know and trust. In essence, this upgraded electric cargo e-bike features a 750-watt motor (U.S.), an improved 320 lb. payload, 65Nm of torque, and a range of 55+ miles per charge.

Next up, we have the RadRunner Plus, a Class 2 passenger-ready e-bike, which makes it possible for you to load up the rear rack with up to 120 lb., whether that’s a guest or cargo. Furthermore, RadRunner Plus features a passenger seat, retractable footpegs, and a protective wheel skirt to safeguard against grit and grime.

Riders can also come expecting 70Nm of torque to tackle hills, a suspension fork for bumpy terrain, and Range Extender capability for longer rides.

Rounding up highlights would be RadRunner Max. This one would be a Class 1-3 e-bike with a 28mph top speed and 60+ miles of range on a single charge. The e-bike torque sensor can summon power instantly and intuitively.

Apart from that, there is a digital key which allows them to unlock and ride simply by walking up with their phone in pocket. In case that wasn’t enough, the e-bike also has a new radar feature which is tasked with alerting you to approaching vehicles and other riders.
