BearingPoint, in collaboration with SAP, has officially announced the launch of a modular, cloud-based platform, which arrives on the scene bearing an ability to streamline and improve the management of electric vehicles, as well as the wider charging infrastructure.
According to certain reports, the stated innovation will leverage BearingPoint ETM.next and its integration with SAP E-Mobility to support corporate and commercial fleet managers in the context of advancing their electrification roadmap, while simultaneously enabling charge point operators (CPOs) to manage their assets holistically.
More on that would reveal how this particular platform effectively consolidates vehicle and charging infrastructure management into a single interface, improving both operational and cost efficiency. As a result, it is able to offer various different end-to-end capabilities, ranging from fleet and charge card management to electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) monitoring and session tracking, including provision of data for ESG reporting requirements.
Another detail worth a mention relates to how the new cloud-based platform actually runs on SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP) and is ready for us alongside SAP S/4HANA, thus providing compatibility with existing SAP landscapes and unlocking scalability.
It is also built on smart charging capabilities, something which helps the platform evolve into a comprehensive system to optimize energy costs for electric vehicle charging and reduce total cost of ownership (TCO). Not just that, the platform’s advanced analytics also provide you with valuable insights into charging behaviors and route planning, all for the purpose of helping businesses reduce their energy costs, maximize asset utilization, and improve overall sustainability efforts.
Talk about the whole value proposition on a slightly deeper level, we begin from the promise of cost-efficiency. This translates to how the new platform cuts down rather significantly on licensing costs for small to mid-sized CPOs when moving to an enterprise-grade e-mobility platform which fulfills the highest security, legal, and compliance standards. Furthermore, it easily connects you with enterprise resource planning (ERP) and management systems to enable a smooth, disruption-free digital workflow.
Next up, we have an end-to-end automated charging process coming into play. You see, the stated innovation makes up for a fully automated solution which integrates with SAP E-Mobility for managing charging transactions across backend and frontend systems. We also have a streamlined handling of charging processes at the driver, vehicle, and charging card levels.
Then, there is the potential for TCO optimization. Thanks to optimized routing, smart charging, and unified billing, the new cloud-based platform can conceive seamless operations, efficiency, and financial transparency for fleet drivers, fleet managers, and CPOs.
Hold on, we still have a couple of bits left to unpack, considering we haven’t yet touched upon a facility committed to comprehensive asset management, which involves holistic lifecycle management of charging infrastructure for large commercial fleets. Beyond that, the facility provides live monitoring of asset health, energy consumption, and efficiency to ensure optimal use and minimal downtime.
Rounding up highlights would be the availability of customization and value-added services. These are tailored configurations from BearingPoint’s expert team, coming packaged along with services such as real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, and operational support to enhance system reliability, ensuring lasting value from today’s investment.
Founded in 1997, BearingPoint actually delivers its services across three different business units: Consulting, Products, and Capital. For better understanding, Consulting happens to cover the advisory business with a clear focus on selected business areas. On the other hand, the Products division brings IP-driven digital assets and managed services for business-critical processes. Lastly, the Capital business unit is designed to deliver M&A and transaction services.
The overarching company’s excellence in what it does can also be understood once you consider it has a global consulting network with more than 10,000 people who, on their part, support clients in over 70 countries,
“With this solution, we are addressing a crucial need for businesses transitioning to electromobility in a rapidly evolving and currently fragmented market. The solution not only improves charging infrastructure management but also unlocks new efficiencies and cost savings for our clients. It is a game-changer for fleet operators looking to future-proof their mobility strategies,” said Nina London, Partner at BearingPoint.
